I recently participated in one of our BizWorld camps here in the Bay Area. Interacting with the kids we serve always inspires me and reinforces the importance of what we’re doing here at BizWorld.org.

On this particular day I met Tanya, a shy fourth-grader who often struggles with learning. Tanya was made CEO of her friendship bracelet company and by the end of the day, I saw her emerge as a leader. She wanted her team’s business to succeed, worked collaboratively with the team, and just shined when she pitched her business to a group of corporate professionals. This shy little girl was now a confident young woman – and clearly a future business leader!

In addition, Tanya came to understand how what she’s learning in school applies to the real world. Her teacher said, “My students are learning so much about finance and business—real world applications of math, with collaboration opportunities that are all embedded in our school standards. Tanya was so impressive; it brought tears to my eyes. “
