We use this program as a project based learning experience to understand business and leadership. Students had lots of fun as they learned.
I loved BizWorld because it really helped me understand about how businesses make money.
One of the students got to the camp late. The reason she was late is that she was resisting going because she thought it was going to be boring. When she left today she told her mom, “If they taught us like this in school, we would be the best educated people on the planet!”
All the kids were great but the biggest surprise for me came from the quietest student in my group that stepped up and grabbed the microphone during the advertising/commercial and really captured everyone off guard with her enthusiasm and excitement of showing off what her team had done! Turns out she was listening and taking it all in and when the opportunity came, she jumped all over it! Without a doubt, she was impacted by the time we spent together!!!
BizWorldPRO is a great simulation with lots of math and SEL work embedded. Students display incredible focus and great teamwork. There were many “learning opportunities” about capitalism, both good and bad. It was powerful to see teams come together with unexpected successes.
Kids LOVE being engaged in the curriclum and working in teams. BizWorldPRO is empowering!
Growth was great. I emphasized the creative and critical thinking over the actual curriculum. One team asked if they could produce catapults using bottle caps and other materials. I added the items to the BizMart menu and off they went. They learned a lot about cost of production. In a word, BizWorldPro is Fun!
BizWorld was a blast, I learned so much. I really want to do it again. I might be ready for a real job now!
